Restructuring — Beachfront House
Office for Crafted Architecture (OfCA)
This project involved the restructuring of a beachfront cabin in Pagham, developed as a live-on-site construction process. The existing dwelling was carefully dismantled, with its well-used and characterful elements preserved, while later low-quality extensions were removed.
The new design envelops the original cabin within a newly built bungalow, retaining it as the central core of the house. Its original façades remain visible from the newly added rooms, creating a layered spatial narrative between old and new. The project balances preservation and renewal, combining traditional materials with a clear contemporary intervention.
